Simply Create DT card - Do It Yourself!!

Good Afternoon! Today i have my first Simply Create Design team card to share with you. What a amazing welcome the newbies have received from the SC girls... thank you girls, your all just lovely!!

The challenge for this fortnight is....Do It Yourself!!!!  Now this is open for you to interpret as you wish, no right or wrong on Simply Create!
For my card i have used DIY flowers, charms, buttons and hand stitching.  This is what the flowers, button and charm started of as...

I used thick embossing powder for the button. I had made it pink but it ended up far to bright for the card so out came the white embossing powder and  i covered the pink up and it actually made it look much more raised by the time i had done a zillion layers of white to cover every bit of pink!!! I used ruffled ribbon to surround the button and a piece of white ribbon to thread through and knot. The charm is just a cardboard heart with layers of silver embossing powder on and then the gems set into it. The chain was added using a jump ring into a tiny hole i made in the heart. The flowers are scalloped ovals with the scallop edge cut off and twirled round a quilling tool and then shaped into shape. For the stitching i used my We R Memory Keepers Sew easy and then hand stitched the floss through.

The image i used is from Wee Stamps and this one is called Wee Suzie! She is so cute and there are so many other cuties where this one came from! I have nearly bought them all, i just love them....and the artist is from Edinburgh which is very close to where i stay! I have coloured her with Promarkers. The papers are from Pink Pettycoat and the spotty one from Craftwork Cards. Both free from Magazines.
The swirl is a Marianne design die. Ribbon and Gems are from my stash.

I hope you can take the time to hop over to Simply Create and have a look at the SC design team cards...Wow, they are all fab and all show what DIY means to them! I look forward to seeing all your DIY creations. The challenge is open for 2 weeks so gives plenty of time!
